There are two seasons in the Amazon Region of Peru.
The wet season runs from December thru May. This is also the high water time and the Amazon River can rise to over 40 feet higher at this time of year. During this time the jungle is wetter thus making the jungle treks very muddy with greatly increased mosquito activity.

The dry season months are June through November and that is when we run our trips. Jungle exploration to see the Urarina’s farms and the medicinal plants they use is more comfortable during this time of year. We use small boats with peckey-peckey motors to get around at low water. We can go to most villages whereas the large boats the traders use are unable to visit the Indians to do their trading. Also mosquitoes and other insects become much less of a problem during this time.
